There were 10 Viking 28's present for this year's regatta
although the fleet was split into Flying and Non-flying sail divisions.
The National put on a great regatta with lots of on-shore activities and
events.
The racing was marred somewhat by the tardy wind which kept all fleets
waiting and waiting and waiting on both days.
Waiting
and waiting
and waiting
and waiting
still waiting
But eventually the wind came and on Saturday,
built nicely to a 10 - 14 knot breeze, then dropped to nothing again
before we could get in a second race. On Sunday the wait was rewarded with
the backwash from nearby storms and the wind touched 20 knots at times
making for exciting runs and exhausting beats. The Genco course managed to
get in two races on Sunday to complete the three race series for the N.A.
Trophy.
The racing was great with many place changes and
as often happens it was the boats which made the fewest mistakes rather
than the boat speed which was reflected in the finishing order. I believe
every one had a great time and resolved not to make those same mistakes
again! Again!
The Official Results are not published yet but
the presentations were as follows:
